A theatrical illustration of African Slave Trade 200 Years Ago!
Igbekun is a drama/dance piece in the Yoruba tradition featuring live theatre, dynamic dances, powerful drumming and elaborate costumes.
The tour is also accompanied by an educated outreach program for schools and community groups.
During the week commencing the cast of the show will visit local schools to run workshops, in close collaboration with the arts teacher or co-ordinator.
All our performers have a broad knowledge of the traditional and contemporary artistic skills and history of their respectful cultures and their impact on the cultural heritage within Britain.
Pupils will have the opportunity to work along side artists to broaden their experience and develop their knowledge of African crafts, traditions and culture, with the chance to take part in and benefit from workshop activities.
